Journalling

The Journey is the Destination. What in the world does that mean? Isn't this all headed somewhere? Heaven? Hell? Death, at least... Right?

Does what we do here really matter? Yes, it does. Immensly. Words matter. Actions matter. They affect the world around us. We affect the world around us. And if we aren't careful, this life will fly by us without us taking notice.

That's where journalling comes in. It's not just about writing down deep spiritual thoughts. It's not about just about your love life, or a record of your accomplishments or prayer requests. Journalling gets it down. It memorializes life. It gives us road markers to go back to to see where God has been, and where He's led us. It gives us reason for hope, because time and time again He Will Come Through.

Over and over again in the Old Testament, God instructed His people to build a pile of rocks to honor the memory of some event or place. This wasn't just to mark a spot where something happened. It gave them a reference point, something to come back to themselves, or even generations later, and say "God's been here." All along. He's never left.

Exodus 23:14-25:40 ~ Matthew 24:29-51 ~ Psalm 30:1-12 ~ Proverbs 7:24-27   So it is interesting and it is important to look at what God is saying to Moses as he predicts their coming into the Promised Land.  He is saying, “You’re going to take this land.  You will have this land.  I have promised this to you.  You will take this land.  You’re not just going to cross over and everybody is just going to be wiped out and gone in the snap of a finger.  It isn’t going to work that way.  Little by little I’m going to drive them out before you, because if I just wipe them out before you now or let you go in and just tear it up, well, everything is going to go to spoil.  The land will go to weeds.  The cities will crumble.  Everything before you will just disappear because you are not great enough at this point to take the land and fully possess it.  Little by little, though, little by little, you are going to drive them out because I’m going to drive them out before you and you’ll rise [Read More]

Zechariah 8:1-23 ~ Revelation 16:1-21 ~ Psalm 144:1-15 ~ Proverbs 30:29-31   So on the surface of things, this may seem like an odd reading to fall on Christmas Day, and yet there is such a profound continuity between the Old and New Testaments and such an accurate picture of what this little baby has done.  For, you see, it is sweet little baby Jesus, meek and mild, born in a stable, laid in a manger, but we must not forget that this is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies and this little baby has just invaded the Kingdom of darkness on earth, invading with stealth, coming as one of us, and nothing will ever be the same again.    In Zechariah it is most profoundly prophetic what God is saying, “I am passionate for you.  I am consumed.  I am returning to Mount Zion and will live in Jerusalem.  This will be called the faithful city, the mountain of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. I am coming for you.  As impossible as this may seem to you now, is it really impossible for me?  You can count o [Read More]

Zechariah 2:1-3:10 ~ Revelation 12:18-13:18 ~ Psalm 141:1-10 ~ Proverbs 30:18-20   Prayer:  Our dear Lord Jesus, we pray in agreement with the psalm today.  We look to you for help.  You are our sovereign Lord.  You are our refuge.  You are our protector.  Keep us from the traps that have been set for us, things that were meant to derail our lives or to jar us off the path of life that you have chosen for us so that we are a few degrees off and walking continually away from your will for our lives.  Protect us from these things.  Guard us from the snares and let the wicked fall into their own nets.  Allow us, your children, your beloved to escape.  We love you God.  We trust you.  We revere you.  We honor you.  We adore you and we place our lives in your hands.  We bow before you, pledging our allegiance to your Kingdom and inviting you, Holy Spirit, to guide us into all truth today.  In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.   www.dailyaudiobible.com is the website, the portal, th [Read More]
